Chance was an amazing Rottie/Shepherd mix who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his left front shoulder in the spring of 2010. At the time of diagnosis, the tumor was not affecting him – it was discovered while the vet was checking his wrist for arthritis. We chose not to amputate at that time, but when he began limping two months later, we discovered tripawds.com and after much research, decided to go forward with the amputation.
Unfortunately, lung mets were discovered and he was no longer a candidate for surgery. Though the 4th leg remained, as the tumor grew, Chance stopped using it altogether and drug it as he hopped up and down the stairs, into the back of my SUV, and around our backyard.
Chance celebrated his 10th birthday in September of 2010 and his cancer battle ended on October 1st when the tumor blocked the blood flow to his left leg and it was time to let him go.
Though this blog was begun to chronicle Chance’s cancer journey, it soon became a place for me to share my memories of him with an amazing and supportive community.
